Improvised Gyros and Zaziki.

This is a perfect quick lunch, you can prepare the day or evening before you actually want to cook and eat it. Plus it’s foolproof and delicious. I know it’s not actual, traditional gyros, but the taste definitely comes out pretty much close to the original and I mean… Who own’s one of those Gyros Rotisseries?!

Ingredients:
1 pound of lean pork steaks
2 medium onions
5 cloves of garlic
1 tbsp. plus 1 tsp. ground (hungarian) paprika
5 tbsp. olive oil
1 cup of greek yogurt
1 cucumber
juice of half a lemon
salt & pepper

Thinly slice the steaks and onions. Put both in a bowl, add paprika, 3 tbsp. of olive oil and 3 cloves of minced garlic. Mix everything well and refrigerate over night or at least for some hours.
When you’re ready to eat in about half an hour start with peeling the cucumber, slicing it, taking out its center and shedding it. After that put the shredded cucumber in a fine mesh sieve and press out most of the water. Mix with greek yogurt, 2 tbsp. of olive oil and lemon juice. Season with salt and pepper. Set aside. Heat a big frying pan without any oil and add the meat mixture. Fry for several minutes until well browned and serve with cold zaziki and some pita bread.
